ABC week

Ok so I thought I should throw in something somewhat educational this summer. We decided to have an ABC week. We reviewed and practiced writing our uppercase and lowercase letters, we played a fun game of alphabet tag, we "exercised" our letter sounds and we also made an ABC book. The kids had so much fun with this. We searched high and low for objects that started with each letter of the alphabet. I let the kids take a picture of it, we put them in albums and voila, ABC books! My wonderful sister was also in town this week and we had tons of fun hanging out with her amazing family. She lives out of state so I only get to see her every other year. My dear sister is also my bff and it was so much fun to see her!!

Taking some pics for our ABC books. They wanted to use chairs for the letter c. They just couldn't resist showing off their best poses. I particularly like Brigham's, it reminds me of a stag dance back in the day.


We practiced our letters in shaving cream. They were pretty worried the whole time about how messy they were getting. I thought kids were supposed to like being messy? Oh well. You win some you lose some.


This is my everyday life now... Ever since Brigham had a otter pop sale at Beckham's, this is ALL he wants to do. Everyday he thinks of something new to sell. Lately he's into washing bikes for money.


I love this pic. I think this captures the true essence of my little munchkins. Brigham is extremely worried that Mckell is "shaking" the cow and Mckell is loving every minute of it. I sure love these two. I wonder what Molly will be like? I'm going to guess that she will be the one trying to jump off of the cow. As of right now, she is the most daring of our kids.


We went with my sister and some of her kids to Thanksgiving Point. The older two boys spent the week at EFY so most of the week it was just Emma and Eli hanging out with us girls!

Hooray for Ice Cream!!

Did you know that July is national ice cream month? How great is that! Last week we made the obvious choice and chose to learn about ice cream for our weekly theme. We colored ice cream cones, learned how ice cream is made and made our own zip lock bag ice cream. I also found some really fun science experiments online that all involve ice cream. All in all it was a great week, minus the stomach flu that took it's toll on each of us one at a time =)






Doesn't it look delish? We got a little impatient and didn't wait for it to freeze completely. We did a low fat version, I wouldn't recommend it!

Happy Birthday Brigham!!!!!

I just can't believe that my Brigham boy is 5! Brigham had a great birthday filled with family, friends, presents and fun! I let him choose what he wanted for breakfast and he wanted our favorite homemade cinnamon rolls. Later that afternoon was his friend party. He wanted to have a power ranger party so we decided to do a power ranger training camp. At the camp the trainees had to obtain 5 power ranger skills which included 1. Being careful (they had to carry an egg on a spoon around the back yard) 2. Being strong (they did push up and sit ups, practiced their best karate kicks and then played some power ranger freeze tag) 3. Defeat the bad guys (I set up a target in the back yard and the kids had to try and hit it with water balloons) 4. Team work (they paired up back to back and carried water balloons in between them) and last but not least #5 was the big obstacle course which included some climbing, jumping, crawling and sliding. The kids had a great time and I'm thankful that he has such good friends around. We were pretty tired after the party and spent a quiet night at home building forts. My favorite part of his birthday was later that night. Mckell and Molly were asleep and it was just me and Brigham in his fort. We read books, had some good laughs and I got to tell him just how much I love him! I will ALWAYS remember what a special night that was! Here is what Brigham is into right now: Legos, playing with friends, freeze tag, he loves to put on "shows" where he sets up his hot wheel race sets and shoots them down our stairs knocking over a wall of blocks set up at the bottom of the stairs. He makes invitations to his shows and even has rules for the spectators. Ha! I love that boy. Brigham is a very good boy and I LOVE being his mom! Happy Birthday Brigham!!

Independence week

With the 4th of July coming up I thought it would be good to do an Independence week to teach the kids a little about our country and how we got our freedom. We learned all about the American Flag, we attempted to learn the pledge of allegiance, we also learned about George Washington,and then we headed down to Provo to enjoy the Freedom Festival. I actually really enjoy American history so it was fun to teach the kids about some of our founding fathers and what makes America a great country. Happy Birthday America! I hope you all had a fabulous 4th!!


In a tribute to the great George Washington, we made some three corner hats. We also learned some stories from his childhood and learned how he became the first president of the United States.

The kids got to decorate their own flag cake. Most of the blueberries never made it on the cake.


We woke up REALLY early in the morning and headed down to Provo for the Balloon festival. We sat on our blanket and had some muffins while the kids watched in awe as the giant balloons were blown up. Don't let this picture fool you, the kids did have a great time. They just didn't want their picture taken. Can you blame them?


After the ballon festival we headed down to the parade. The kids favorite part was seeing Ronald McDonald and Princess Ariel.


Just chillin at the parade. Jeremy doesn't enjoy waking up REALLY early, large crowds or parades but he is a good sport and is so nice to put up with all my field trips this summer!


After the parade we went home for some good old back yard fun. I love that this little pool can entertain them for hours!

Mckell got sick at our bbq so that night it was just me, Jeremy and Brigham watching the fireworks. We could see the Thanksgiving Point fireworks from our deck. It was a nice relaxing night at home!
