Its bug week

It's been another crazy week at our house. Between dance, reading lessons, teaching a ton and the million other things us moms like to throw on our plates, it's been a little busy around here. Needless to say our summer is flying by. To fast I think... Any ways, this week we learned all about bugs. We started off our week by watching Bugs Life. We also went to the Bean Museum at BYU to check out some bugs. They have tons of really creepy things. We got some bug catchers and went for a bug hunt. We made several little bug art projects which is always a huge hit. We finished off our week learning about worms which I know they aren't technically bugs but I had some fun worm stuff I wanted to do with the kiddos.

While digging in the dirt, Brigham found a spider. He was talking a lot of smack to the spider saying "I'm not afraid of you spider, I'm gonna trap you and keep you forever" Brigham screamed like he was being attacked by a ferocious animal when the spider crawled closer to him. He decided to just catch ants.


We made some spider hats. Super easy and the kids loved it

Sorry so blurry. We played a good game of Little Miss Muffet. The kids have played this everyday since.


The Bean Museum


I was worried that looking at all these bugs would give the kids nightmares. It didn't seem to bother them but I still feel like I have something crawling on me.


We read this cute book about a worm. I would recommend checking out from the library.


We made some "worm slime". The kids totally loved this and it was so easy to do!






We had a worm race... Mostly for my entertainment


We of course ended our all about worm day by eating some worms. They were actually quite tasty.

Ok now onto non bug related stuff. Mckell had some friends over for a tea party. The girls enjoyed decorating some cup cakes, had some lemonade and got their nails painted. They had so much fun together! I just love listening to them talk and play. Mckell was in heaven having her friends over and I'll admit that the girl party was fun for me to!






Seven Peaks with the cousins. Can I just say that I am sooo glad that my kids have some great cousins to play with. They LOVE them, and I do to!

Jungle week

Hooray for week two! This week we learned about the jungle. We talked about the animals, the weather and the vegetation. First on our list was a good old game of monkey see monkey do. The kids had a great time with that and I got a few good laughs. After that, I took the kiddos to monkey island where they could "monkey around" The kids have been begging me to take them for a while so this seemed like a great excuse. We also made some safari maps, went on a safari, and enjoyed some super yummy zebra brownies. Wow, what a week. Oh yah, and I also ran in the Ragnar this weekend. Yes you can pick your jaw off the floor now... I have never been a runner. In fact, I don't even like running. I got the chance to be on a team with some friends from the ward and I couldn't pass up the challenge. Our team ran for the American Cancer Society and raised over $5,000 for them. The race went from Logan to Park City for a total of 192 miles. It took our team a little over 31 hours but we all survived and even had a little fun. I am even looking forward to next year!

Running through the canyons was beautiful! I didn't much care for the steep hills, but the scenery was great!


Van 1, we had the early shift. We started our race at 5:15 a.m.

Summer of fun begins

Summer is here and I'm feelin some pressure to keep these kiddos entertained/somewhat educated. I got this idea from my friend Lauren who I admire as a mother. She is fabulous! Basically, we will have a weekly theme. We will learn about the theme, do crafts and hopefully go on some sort of field trip. The kids are way excited about the idea and it has really been fun researching possible projects. I'm sure by the end of the summer they won't remember what they learned but hopefully they will remember the time that we got to spend together. Here's to week 1!

Transportation week. We started off the week learning about trains.





Lehi has it's very own train station. It is so neat! We learned all about the trains that used to come through here. They have a fun little museum with lots of replicas.

Go carts count as transportation right? We headed to trafalga to ride some go carts. We had to brave this awful windstorm but everyone had fun anyways.

We finished off the week learning about airplanes. We made paper airplanes and gave them a good test run off our deck. We also went to this really neat model airplane show. We got to see tons of neat airplanes and even got to see them take flight, choreographed to music none the less!








Our week is never complete with out seven peaks!
